Flying Business & First Class to Mexico City
Aeroméxico, Delta's joint-venture partner, flies the most US–Mexico City routes and is the one to ask about for a bed: its 787-8s and 787-9s, with lie-flat Clase Premier, operate the New York JFK route and some Los Angeles, Chicago and Miami frequencies, while its 737s carry a recliner. American flies First Class from Dallas, Miami, Chicago, Los Angeles and Phoenix; Delta from Atlanta, Los Angeles, New York, Detroit and Salt Lake City; United from Houston, Newark, Chicago, San Francisco, Los Angeles, Denver and Washington. All of those are narrowbody recliner cabins. Because Aeroméxico and Delta coordinate fares, the useful comparison is Aeroméxico's 787 against American and United on the same day.
Benito Juárez is 30–60 minutes from Polanco and Roma depending on traffic, with Aeroméxico's Salón Premier lounges in Terminal 2 for the return. Terminal 2 and Terminal 1 are connected by a monorail, but a connection between them takes time; we avoid it where we can. Mexico City is also Aeroméxico's hub for Oaxaca, San Miguel de Allende (via León or Querétaro), Mérida, Puerto Vallarta, Los Cabos and Cancún, and a same-ticket domestic sector is easy to add.
The city is a year-round destination at 7,350 feet — mild, dry and sunny from October to May, with afternoon showers from June to September. Day of the Dead at the start of November and Semana Santa (Holy Week) are the peaks for both fares and hotels; Christmas and New Year follow. Our $900 starting fare from Miami is among the lowest premium fares on the site; the Aeroméxico 787 from New York starts higher and is quoted separately.

“Steven was enthusiastic (to a fault). His first of three offers was about 10% above my budget but the flights really fit the schedule so well I had to say yes. The other two offers were cheaper but the timing was off for me.”
