Cathay Pacific Business & First Class

from$3,600round trip · per person

Cathay Pacific built Hong Kong into Asia's premium connecting hub, and its lounges there — The Pier, The Wing, The Deck — remain the standard everyone else is measured against. The new Aria Suite business cabin, with doors and a 24-inch screen, is rolling out across the 777-300ER fleet, and First Class flies nonstop from New York, Los Angeles and San Francisco.

The seat

What makes Business Class different

Cathay's original reverse-herringbone business seat was copied by half the industry and is still a very good product: lie-flat, direct aisle access, angled away from the aisle for privacy. The Aria Suite, introduced from late 2024, keeps that geometry and adds a sliding door, a 24-inch 4K screen, wireless charging and a redesigned bed. First Class is a different proposition — six seats in a 1-1-1 layout, each 36 inches wide, with an ottoman a companion can sit on for dinner and a bed made up by the crew with a mattress and duvet. The cooking on Cathay is a step up: dim sum, the Hong Kong-style breakfast, and a wine list that has been winning Business Traveller awards for years.

Cathay Pacific lounges

Hong Kong is where Cathay shines on the ground. The Pier First Class Lounge has day suites, a full restaurant and a spa; The Pier Business Class Lounge has the famous Noodle Bar, a tea house and shower suites; The Wing has a First Class section with private cabanas and a Business section with the long bar; The Deck adds a terrace. In the US, Cathay operates its own lounge at San Francisco, and uses American's Flagship or Admirals Club lounges and other partners at New York JFK, Boston, Chicago, Dallas, Los Angeles and Seattle.

Upgrades: can you move up?

Cathay members can use Asia Miles to upgrade eligible business fares to First, and the airline sells cash upgrade offers on selected flights before departure. Because First flies only from New York, Los Angeles and San Francisco, the upgrade path exists only on those routes. We quote First alongside Business on all three at booking; a negotiated First fare on Cathay is one of the more accessible First Class products from the US.

Rankings and reviews

Cathay Pacific was ranked the world's third-best airline and fourth-best business class at the 2025 Skytrax awards, and its lounges in Hong Kong have won Skytrax's Best Business Class Lounge and Best First Class Lounge awards multiple times. It has been named World's Best Airline by Skytrax more than once in past years.

Why book Cathay Pacific with LuxeSkies

Cathay's fares to Hong Kong and beyond vary sharply by season and by which Asian destination the ticket continues to, and the aircraft on a given day decides whether you get the Aria Suite. We hold contract fares from $3,600 round trip, confirm the aircraft, price Hong Kong itself against the through-fare to Bali, Bangkok or Sydney, and quote First from the three gateways that have it. “Steven was enthusiastic (to a fault). His first of three offers was about 10% above my budget but the flights really fit the schedule so well I had to say yes. The other two offers were cheaper but the timing was off for me.”
