What makes JAL Sky Suite different

The A350-1000 is the headline: 54 business suites with sliding doors, headphone-free audio built into the headrest, a wireless charging pad and a bed on a firm, airweave mattress; and six First suites — enclosed, with a 43-inch screen, a wardrobe and a bed wide enough to feel like a hotel. On the 777-300ER, JAL's Sky Suite is a lie-flat with high walls and, on the newer aircraft, direct aisle access. The catering is Japanese first: multi-course washoku menus designed by named restaurants, a serious sake selection, and in First a kaiseki service with Japanese ceramics. JAL's crews are trained to a quiet, precise standard that makes fourteen hours feel shorter.

Upgrades: can you move up?

JAL Mileage Bank members can upgrade eligible business fares to First with miles, and JAL sells cash upgrades before departure on some flights. First is on the A350-1000 and the 777-300ER, so the upgrade path exists on most US routes; we quote First alongside Business at booking, and on the A350-1000 the two cabins are close enough in quality that many clients stay in Business.

Our negotiated starting fares are $3,300 round trip for lead-time bookings, with the West Coast lowest and New York and Dallas a little higher. First Class is quoted on request.

Which JAL flights have the new A350-1000?

New York JFK, Dallas and Los Angeles to Haneda, with more routes as aircraft are delivered. Other US routes are operated by the 777-300ER and 787.

Does JAL have First Class to the US?

Yes — six suites on the A350-1000 and eight on the 777-300ER, from New York, Chicago, Dallas, Los Angeles and San Francisco.

JAL or ANA — which is better for business class to Tokyo?

Both are excellent. ANA's The Room is wider; JAL's A350-1000 suite has a door and a firmer bed. On the routes where each flies its newest aircraft, choose on schedule and price. Where either airline is flying an older aircraft, choose the newer cabin.

“Steven was enthusiastic (to a fault). His first of three offers was about 10% above my budget but the flights really fit the schedule so well I had to say yes. The other two offers were cheaper but the timing was off for me.”

“It was great! So helpful and patient the only negative thing I can say is it wasn’t communicated the price for assistance until I already paid and left a tip.”
