Overnight from the East Coast you land at Charles de Gaulle before 9am with the whole day ahead of you, and from the West Coast the eleven-hour nonstop is exactly the length of flight a flat bed was built for.

Flying Business & First Class to Paris
Air France and Delta fly this route as a joint venture from Terminal 2E and 2F at Charles de Gaulle, and between them cover New York, Boston, Washington, Atlanta, Detroit, Minneapolis, Chicago, Miami, Dallas, Houston, Los Angeles, San Francisco and Seattle. United flies from Newark, Washington, Chicago and San Francisco; American from New York, Philadelphia, Dallas, Miami and Chicago. Air France's newest business seat has a sliding door and is on most New York and Los Angeles flights; Delta One Suites fly on the A330-900 and A350; Polaris and Flagship Business on the US carriers. There is also La Compagnie, an all-business-class airline flying Newark–Paris Orly on A321neos with lie-flat seats — a good-value option we price alongside the majors.
La Première is the reason to ask about First on this route. Four seats per aircraft, a private lounge at 2E with a Michelin-starred menu, a car to the aircraft door, and a suite with curtains that close. It flies on Air France's 777-300ERs from New York and Los Angeles and a few other US gateways, and it is one of the hardest premium cabins in the world to buy at a sensible price, which is where a negotiated fare helps most.
Paris prices around its calendar. Fashion Weeks (late February–early March and late September–early October, plus Haute Couture in January and July), Roland-Garros in late May–early June, and the Christmas season all push business fares up. April to early June and September to October are the sweet spot for weather and price; mid-January through February is the cheapest window. From CDG, the RER B reaches the city in 35 minutes and taxis charge a flat fare to the Left or Right Bank. The TGV station inside Terminal 2 means Lyon, Bordeaux, Strasbourg and Brussels are a train ride from the arrivals hall — Air France sells the train segment on the same ticket.

“Steven was enthusiastic (to a fault). His first of three offers was about 10% above my budget but the flights really fit the schedule so well I had to say yes. The other two offers were cheaper but the timing was off for me.”
