Business Class Flights to Rome

from$2,300round trip · per person

Rome is the most-flown Italian route from the United States and the natural first stop for Florence, Naples and the Amalfi Coast. Overnight nonstops from New York, Boston, Chicago, Miami, Atlanta and Washington land at Fiumicino by mid-morning, and the Leonardo Express has you at Termini within an hour — early enough to see the Pantheon before lunch.

Flying Business Class to Rome

ITA Airways, Italy's flag carrier, flies A350s and A330neos with lie-flat business seats from New York, Boston, Miami, Chicago, Washington, Los Angeles and San Francisco, several of them year-round. Delta serves Rome from New York, Atlanta and Boston, United from Newark, Washington and Chicago, and American from New York, Philadelphia, Dallas and Chicago — but note that a good share of the US-carrier flights are seasonal, running roughly April through October. In winter the nonstop options narrow, and a one-stop via Lufthansa, SWISS, Air France or British Airways is often the better cabin at a better price. There is no First Class cabin on any nonstop US–Rome flight; business is the top product.

Fiumicino has improved dramatically. Long-haul flights use Terminal 3 (ITA at Terminal 1), lounges are decent, and the Leonardo Express runs to Termini every 15 minutes. From Termini, high-speed trains reach Florence in 90 minutes and Naples in 70 — a same-day connection from your morning arrival is realistic. If your trip is Amalfi, Capri or Puglia, fly into Rome and out of Naples or Bari on an open-jaw ticket; it rarely costs more than a simple round trip.

Timing matters more in Rome than in most European capitals. Easter and Holy Week fill the city, June–August is hot, crowded and expensive, and Ferragosto in mid-August shuts many restaurants. April–May and late September–October are ideal: warm, open, and with business fares closest to our $2,300 New York starting price. November through March is cheapest of all and, for a Rome-only trip, genuinely pleasant.

Rome flight questions

How much is a business-class flight to Rome?

Our negotiated starting fares are $2,300 round trip from New York for lead-time bookings, with Miami, Boston and Chicago a little higher and the West Coast around $3,000. Easter, June–August and Christmas dates price higher.

Is there a nonstop business-class flight to Rome from the US?

Yes — ITA Airways, Delta, United and American all fly nonstop lie-flat business class from the East Coast, Chicago and Miami, and ITA flies from Los Angeles and San Francisco. Several routes are seasonal (April–October), so winter travel may mean a one-stop via Frankfurt, Zurich, Paris or London.

How long is the flight from New York to Rome?

About 8½ hours eastbound overnight and 9½ hours on the return. Miami is around 10 hours, Chicago 9½ and Los Angeles about 12.

Should I fly into Rome or Florence for Tuscany?

Rome. Florence's airport has no US nonstops and short runways, so you would connect anyway. Land at Fiumicino, take the Leonardo Express to Termini and a 90-minute high-speed train to Florence — usually faster than any air connection.

“Steven was enthusiastic (to a fault). His first of three offers was about 10% above my budget but the flights really fit the schedule so well I had to say yes. The other two offers were cheaper but the timing was off for me.”

“It was great! So helpful and patient the only negative thing I can say is it wasn’t communicated the price for assistance until I already paid and left a tip.”
