Business & First Class Flights to Athens
from$2,400round trip · per person
Athens is the longest of the Mediterranean nonstops from the East Coast — about nine and a half hours — and the one where a flat bed matters most, because the islands start the moment you land. It is also the only Greek route with a First Class option: Emirates flies its 777 First and Business cabins nonstop from Newark year-round, alongside seasonal Delta, United and American flights.

Flying Business & First Class to Athens
Emirates is the standout: its Newark–Athens flight, which continues to Dubai, operates year-round with a full First Class cabin, enclosed suites, an onboard bar for business passengers and chauffeur-drive at both ends on most fares. It is the only First Class product on any US–Greece route and, as a fifth-freedom flight, it often prices surprisingly close to business on the US carriers. Delta flies New York–Athens year-round and Atlanta and Boston in season; United flies Newark year-round with seasonal Washington and Chicago; and American adds New York, Philadelphia and Chicago in summer. Outside April–October the nonstop options thin out, and a one-stop on Lufthansa, SWISS, Turkish Airlines, Air France or British Airways — often with a better seat — is the way to go.
Athens airport is modern and well connected: the metro and suburban rail reach the center in about 40 minutes, and the domestic terminal handles Aegean and Olympic flights to Santorini, Mykonos, Crete, Rhodes and Corfu in 45–60 minutes. Ferries to the Cyclades leave from Piraeus and Rafina, the latter 20 minutes from the airport. If the islands are the goal, we book the domestic hop on the same ticket where the airline allows it, so the bag checks through and a delay on the transatlantic leg is the airline's problem, not yours.
The Greek calendar is simple: July and August are the peak for heat, crowds and price; June and September have the same sea temperatures without either; May and October are quieter, cooler and cheapest for the nonstops that still operate. Orthodox Easter (which usually falls a week or more after Western Easter) is a major domestic holiday. Winter in Athens itself is mild and pleasant, and one-stop business fares then drop well below our $2,400 summer starting price.

Athens flight questions
How much is business class to Athens from the US?

Is there First Class to Athens from the US?
Yes — Emirates flies First Class nonstop from Newark to Athens year-round on its 777-300ER, the only First cabin on any US–Greece route. Delta, United and American top out at business class.
How long is the flight to Athens from New York?
About 9½ hours eastbound overnight and 10½–11 hours on the return — the longest of the East Coast–Mediterranean nonstops, and the one where a lie-flat seat makes the biggest difference.
Can I fly business class to Santorini or Mykonos?
Not nonstop from the US. Fly premium to Athens, then take a 45-minute Aegean or Olympic flight — we can book it on the same ticket so your bags check through — or a high-speed ferry from Piraeus or Rafina.

“Steven was enthusiastic (to a fault). His first of three offers was about 10% above my budget but the flights really fit the schedule so well I had to say yes. The other two offers were cheaper but the timing was off for me.”
