ANA Business & First Class
from$3,300round trip · per person
ANA's The Room is the business seat that made other airlines nervous: a suite as wide as many First Class cabins, with a sliding door, a sofa-style bench and a bed that fits two pillows side by side. It flies on the 777-300ER from New York, Chicago, Los Angeles, San Francisco and Houston to Tokyo Haneda, alongside The Suite — a First Class cabin with a 43-inch screen and a wardrobe — and the most consistent service in the sky.

The seat
What makes The Room different
The Room is arranged so that alternating seats face forward and backward, each with a large privacy door, a bench wide enough to sit cross-legged on, and a bed that is close to double-width at the shoulders. Two center seats become a shared space with the divider down. It is the widest business seat on any airline flying to the US and the one most often described as "better than most First Class." The Suite, ANA's First Class, has eight closed suites with a 43-inch monitor, a real wardrobe and a bed with a full mattress. What ANA adds to both is Japanese service: precise, quiet, anticipatory, with a kaiseki-style Japanese menu alongside Western options, sake and shochu selections, and a level of consistency across crews that few carriers match.

ANA (All Nippon Airways) lounges
At Haneda Terminal 3 and Narita, the ANA Lounge for Business Class passengers offers a noodle bar, showers and a large workspace, and the ANA Suite Lounge for First Class adds à la carte dining and a quieter room. In the US, ANA uses United's Polaris lounges at Newark, Chicago, Houston, Los Angeles and San Francisco for First and Business passengers, and United Clubs or partner lounges elsewhere.
Upgrades: can you move up?
ANA Mileage Club members can upgrade eligible business fares to First with miles, and United MileagePlus members can use miles on ANA-operated flights on some fare classes. Cash upgrades at the airport are uncommon. The Room and The Suite fly on the same 777-300ERs, so the upgrade is within one aircraft; if The Suite is the goal, we quote it alongside The Room at booking, where the gap is often narrower than on other carriers.
Important to know before you book
- The Room is only on the 777-300ER. The 787s that serve Seattle, San Jose, Washington and Honolulu carry an older, narrower seat — still lie-flat, but not the same product. We confirm the aircraft.
- Haneda flights are more convenient than Narita for Tokyo; Narita is better for connections to Southeast Asia on some schedules.
- Cherry-blossom season (late March–mid April), Golden Week (late April–early May) and autumn foliage (November) fill premium cabins months ahead.
- ANA is a joint-venture partner of United across the Pacific, so fares are often coordinated.
Rankings and reviews
ANA was ranked the world's third-best business class at the 2025 Skytrax awards, holds Skytrax's 5-Star Airline rating and regularly wins Best Airline Staff in Asia and Cleanest Cabins. The Room is one of the three business seats most frequently named in "best in the world" lists.
Why book ANA (All Nippon Airways) with LuxeSkies
The difference between The Room and ANA's older business seat is the single most important thing to know when buying an ANA ticket, and the airline's website does not make it obvious. We hold contract fares from $3,300 round trip, confirm the aircraft on every flight, and quote The Suite alongside The Room. Japan's peak seasons need three to six months of lead time; we tell you when to lock in.

“Steven was enthusiastic (to a fault). His first of three offers was about 10% above my budget but the flights really fit the schedule so well I had to say yes. The other two offers were cheaper but the timing was off for me.”
