Business & First Class Flights to Mumbai
from$3,400round trip · per person
Mumbai is fifteen and a half hours from New York nonstop on Air India and United, and three hours from Dubai, Doha and Abu Dhabi — which is why the Gulf carriers, with Qsuite, Emirates First and the Etihad Apartment, carry so much of the premium traffic. Chhatrapati Shivaji's Terminal 2 is one of the best airports in Asia, and Goa, Udaipur and Kerala are a short flight on.

Flying Business & First Class to Mumbai
Air India flies Mumbai nonstop from New York JFK, Newark and San Francisco, with its A350s and retrofitted 777s carrying a lie-flat 1-2-1 business cabin and some older 777s still in service with a dated one; United flies Polaris from Newark. The Gulf is the premium option here more than anywhere in Asia: Emirates flies Dubai–Mumbai many times a day with First Class on several frequencies, Qatar Airways flies Doha–Mumbai in Qsuite, and Etihad flies Abu Dhabi–Mumbai with the Business Studio — so a First or Qsuite ticket from any US Gulf gateway lands you in Mumbai after a three-hour second leg. Turkish Airlines, British Airways, Virgin Atlantic, Lufthansa, SWISS and Air France cover the European one-stops, with BA First on London–Mumbai.
Terminal 2 at Mumbai is a genuinely good airport — art-filled, efficient, with strong lounges airside — but the road into South Mumbai can take an hour or more; the new Navi Mumbai airport, opening in stages from 2025, will change the picture for some resorts and business parks. Mumbai is also the gateway to Goa (an hour's flight), Udaipur and Rajasthan, Kerala and the Maldives (Malé is two and a half hours), and to Air India's domestic network across the south.
The season is November through February — dry, warm, and the peak for the wedding season and Diwali, when premium cabins on the nonstops fill weeks out. October and March are pleasant shoulders. April and May are hot, and the monsoon from June to September brings heavy rain and the lowest premium fares of the year, well below our $3,400 starting fare from New York.

“Steven was enthusiastic (to a fault). His first of three offers was about 10% above my budget but the flights really fit the schedule so well I had to say yes. The other two offers were cheaper but the timing was off for me.”
