Flying Business & First Class to Milan
The route has an unusual headline: Emirates flies New York JFK to Milan nonstop as the first leg of its Dubai service, with a full First Class cabin — enclosed suites, an onboard bar in business, and chauffeur-drive at both ends on most fares. It is the only First Class product on any US–Italy route and, because it is a fifth-freedom flight, it frequently prices below what you would expect. ITA Airways flies A350s and A330neos with lie-flat business from New York and, in season, Miami and Los Angeles; Delta from New York, Atlanta and Boston; United from Newark; and American from New York and Philadelphia in season. La Compagnie also runs a seasonal all-business Newark–Milan service on A321neos.
Malpensa is 30 miles northwest of the city. The Malpensa Express reaches Cadorna in about 40 minutes and Centrale in 50; a car to Como or the western shore of the lake takes under an hour, which is why many clients skip Milan entirely and go straight from the terminal to the lake. From Centrale, high-speed trains reach Venice in two and a half hours, Florence in under two and Rome in three — an open-jaw into Milan and home from Rome or Venice is one of the most efficient Italian itineraries there is.
Milan's calendar is driven by trade fairs and fashion. Men's and women's Fashion Weeks in late February and late September, Salone del Mobile in April and the autumn trade-show season fill premium cabins with business traffic and push fares well above our $2,400 New York starting price. May–June and early October are the sweet spot for the lakes; August is quiet in the city but ideal for the water; December–March suits a Milan-plus-ski trip, with the Dolomites and Valle d'Aosta two to three hours away.

“Steven was enthusiastic (to a fault). His first of three offers was about 10% above my budget but the flights really fit the schedule so well I had to say yes. The other two offers were cheaper but the timing was off for me.”
