Business & First Class Flights to Cape Town
from$3,600round trip · per person
Cape Town is the most beautiful city on the premium map and one of the longest flights to reach it — fourteen and a half hours nonstop from Newark, sixteen from Atlanta — which is why the choice is between the United and Delta nonstops and a one-stop in a better cabin: British Airways First via London, Emirates First via Dubai, Qsuite via Doha. Table Mountain, the Winelands and the Cape of Good Hope, twenty minutes from the runway.
Arrival airport
Cape Town International (CPT), 20 minutes from the city and the Atlantic Seaboard, 45 from Stellenbosch and Franschhoek

Time difference

Flying Business & First Class to Cape Town
United flies Newark–Cape Town nonstop with Polaris, and Delta flies Atlanta–Cape Town with Delta One Suites on the A350. Those are the nonstops, and they save three to five hours over anything else. The one-stops are where the best cabins are: British Airways flies London–Cape Town daily on the 777 and A380 with a First Class cabin, Virgin Atlantic flies it in the northern winter, Emirates flies Dubai–Cape Town with First Class, Qatar Airways flies Doha–Cape Town in Qsuite, and Lufthansa, KLM, Air France, SWISS and Turkish Airlines all reach Cape Town from their hubs, some seasonally. From the West Coast and the middle of the country, a same-day connection to Newark or Atlanta for the nonstop competes with the Gulf routing on total time; we price both.
Cape Town's airport is 20 minutes from the city center, the V&A Waterfront and the Atlantic Seaboard (Camps Bay, Clifton), and 45 minutes from the Winelands at Stellenbosch and Franschhoek. Hotels arrange transfers, and a rental car is common for the Cape Peninsula and the Garden Route. The city pairs naturally with a safari: Kruger is a two-and-a-half-hour flight to Skukuza or Nelspruit, the Sabi Sand lodges have their own airstrips, and Johannesburg is two hours; an open-jaw into Cape Town and home from Johannesburg — or the reverse — prices close to a round trip.
Cape Town's summer runs November through March, with Christmas through February the peak for fares, hotels and the beaches; the harvest season in the Winelands is February to April, and the light in March and April is the year's best. May is a pleasant shoulder. June through August is cool and wet — the low season, with premium fares well below our $3,600 starting fare from Newark, and southern right whales in False Bay from June to November. September and October bring the wildflowers and the start of the beach season.

Cape Town flight questions
How much is business class to Cape Town from the US?
Our negotiated starting fares are $3,600 round trip from New York and Newark for lead-time bookings; Atlanta is close, and one-stop fares via London, Dubai or Doha from other cities start around $3,800–$4,200. Christmas through February prices higher; June–August is cheapest.
Is there a nonstop business-class flight from the US to Cape Town?
Yes — United from Newark and Delta from Atlanta. Both are lie-flat cabins of 14½–16 hours. Many clients prefer the one-stop via London, Dubai or Doha for a First Class or Qsuite seat.
Which airlines fly First Class to Cape Town?
British Airways via London and Emirates via Dubai. The United and Delta nonstops are business-topped.
Should I fly into Cape Town or Johannesburg for a safari?
Johannesburg for most safaris — Kruger and the Sabi Sand are a short flight or a four-hour drive. The ideal South Africa trip is an open-jaw: into Cape Town, home from Johannesburg (or the reverse), for the same fare as a round trip.

“Steven was enthusiastic (to a fault). His first of three offers was about 10% above my budget but the flights really fit the schedule so well I had to say yes. The other two offers were cheaper but the timing was off for me.”
