Virgin Atlantic Upper Class
from$2,500round trip · per person
Virgin Atlantic's Upper Class is the business class with a personality: the Clubhouse lounges at Heathrow and JFK with a bar and a spa, the Upper Class Wing with its own security lane at Heathrow, and a cabin — suites with sliding doors on the A330neo, an open 1-1-1 on the A350 — that people choose because the flight is fun. Nonstop from eleven US cities to London, and one stop to India, Africa and the Caribbean.

The seat
What makes Upper Class different
On the A330neo, Upper Class is a 1-2-1 suite with a sliding door, a 17-inch screen and a bed with a mattress; at the front, The Retreat Suite is two larger seats that can host a companion for dinner. On the A350-1000, Upper Class is a 1-1-1 with the window seats angled outward, no door, and The Loft — a social space with a sofa and a screen — replacing the old bar. The 787-9 still carries the older herringbone cabin, which is lie-flat but dated. On the ground, Virgin is at its best: the Upper Class Wing at Heathrow with a private security channel, the Clubhouse with a full restaurant, a bar and a spa, and at JFK a Clubhouse with a rooftop terrace. The catering has a British bent — afternoon tea, a good cheese board, a serious gin list.

Virgin Atlantic lounges
The Clubhouse at Heathrow Terminal 3 is the flagship: a restaurant with waiter service, a cocktail bar, a spa offering complimentary treatments, a roof deck and showers. Clubhouses at New York JFK Terminal 4 (with an outdoor terrace), Washington Dulles and San Francisco; at other US gateways Virgin uses Delta Sky Clubs. Arriving at Heathrow, Upper Class passengers can use the Revivals arrivals lounge with showers and breakfast.
Upgrades: can you move up?
Virgin sells upgrade bids and cash upgrades before departure, and Flying Club members can upgrade eligible fares with points; The Retreat Suite on the A330neo is sold as a paid upgrade at booking or at the airport. With no First Class, Upper Class is the top, and our contract fares put you there.
Important to know before you book
- Three different Upper Class cabins fly US routes; the A330neo suite with a door is the one to ask for, the 787-9 the one to avoid if you can.
- Virgin ended its complimentary chauffeur service some years ago; it is not included on standard Upper Class fares.
- Virgin and Delta are joint-venture partners; the flight you book may be Delta-operated with Delta One.
- Heathrow Terminal 3 handles Virgin; connections to Terminal 5 (British Airways) take time.
Rankings and reviews
Virgin Atlantic has won Skytrax's Best Airline Staff in the UK and Best Premium Economy awards and holds a 4-Star rating; the Clubhouse at Heathrow is regularly ranked among the best business-class lounges in Europe, and the A330neo Upper Class suite has been reviewed as the airline's best-ever seat.
Why book Virgin Atlantic with LuxeSkies
Six airlines compete on US–London, which makes Virgin's fares among the most negotiable to Europe, and the aircraft on a given day determines whether you get a suite with a door or the old herringbone. We hold contract fares from $2,500 round trip, confirm the aircraft, price Virgin against British Airways, Delta, United, American and JetBlue on the same route, and use Heathrow for lie-flat routings to the Caribbean, India and Africa.

“Steven was enthusiastic (to a fault). His first of three offers was about 10% above my budget but the flights really fit the schedule so well I had to say yes. The other two offers were cheaper but the timing was off for me.”
