Thai Airways Business & First Class
from$3,500round trip · per person
Thai Airways no longer flies nonstop to the United States, but for Bangkok, Phuket, Chiang Mai and the rest of Southeast Asia it is still the airline to arrive on: Royal Silk business class on the 787 and A350, Royal First on the 777-300ER, and a Royal Orchid lounge complex at Bangkok with a full spa. We pair it with ANA, JAL, EVA, United or the Gulf carriers on the transpacific leg so the whole trip stays in a lie-flat cabin.

The seat
What makes Royal Silk Business different
Royal Silk on the 787-9 and A350 is a lie-flat 1-2-1 reverse-herringbone with direct aisle access, a Thai and Western menu and the purple orchid on every tray; on the 777-300ER it is a staggered lie-flat with the same service. Royal First on the 777-300ER is eight open suites with a wide seat, a bed made up by the crew, and the ground experience that makes Thai First famous: a private check-in, a buggy through Suvarnabhumi, a lounge with a full Thai massage spa, and escort to the gate. The Royal Orchid Spa at Bangkok — an hour's Thai massage for First passengers, a shorter treatment for Business — is the best-known airline spa in the world.

Thai Airways lounges
At Bangkok, the Royal First Lounge with private rooms, à la carte dining and the Royal Orchid Spa, and the Royal Silk Lounges across concourses C, D and E with showers, a buffet and a spa treatment for Business passengers. Elsewhere, Thai uses Star Alliance partner lounges — ANA at Tokyo, Singapore at Changi, Lufthansa at Frankfurt.
Upgrades: can you move up?
Thai sells upgrade bids and cash upgrades, and Royal Orchid Plus members can upgrade eligible fares with miles, including Royal Silk to Royal First on the 777-300ER routes that carry it. Because the US leg is on a partner, the upgrade question is per segment; we quote Royal First on the Thai sector where it flies.
Important to know before you book
- No nonstop from the US: the ticket is a partner airline to Asia or the Gulf plus Thai onward. We build it on one ticket where the fare allows.
- Royal Silk on the older A330 and 777-200ER is a 2-2-2 layout; we route you onto the 787 or A350 where possible.
- Royal First flies on selected routes only (Tokyo, London, Frankfurt, Sydney among them).
- Thailand's high season is November–February; the rainy season (June–October) brings the lowest fares.
Rankings and reviews
Thai Airways has won Skytrax's World's Best Airline Lounge Spa Facility award many times and Best Economy Class awards; it holds a 4-Star rating, and Royal First's ground service at Bangkok is routinely ranked among the top First Class experiences in Asia.
Why book Thai Airways with LuxeSkies
Getting to Bangkok in a lie-flat seat from the US means combining two airlines on one ticket, and the combinations — ANA plus Thai, EVA plus Thai, Qatar to Bangkok direct — price very differently. We hold contract fares from $3,500 round trip, build the through-ticket, route you onto Thai's newest aircraft, and quote Royal First on the sectors that carry it.

“Steven was enthusiastic (to a fault). His first of three offers was about 10% above my budget but the flights really fit the schedule so well I had to say yes. The other two offers were cheaper but the timing was off for me.”
