The seat
What makes Business Suite different
The Business Suite is a well-regarded lie-flat 1-2-1 with a privacy wing rather than a door, a mattress and duvet from the moment you board (Qantas lets you sleep from departure on the overnight westbound flights), and catering by Neil Perry's Rockpool with Australian wines. First on the A380 is a wide open suite with an ottoman for a guest, a bed made up with a mattress, and a 17-inch screen; the cabin sits on the lower deck at the nose. The bigger Qantas story is on the ground: the First Lounge at Sydney, with a Neil Perry à la carte restaurant and a day spa, and the First Lounge at Los Angeles Tom Bradley, which is open to Qantas First passengers, oneworld Emeralds — and, unusually, to Qantas Business passengers on the LAX–Sydney and Melbourne A380 flights.

Qantas lounges
Sydney's International First Lounge (à la carte dining by Neil Perry, spa treatments, a library) and the Business Lounge; Melbourne's First and Business Lounges; Brisbane's Business Lounge. In Los Angeles, the Qantas First Lounge at Tom Bradley International Terminal — a restaurant with waiter service and a bar — and the Qantas Business Lounge alongside it. At Dallas and San Francisco, Qantas uses American's Flagship and Admirals Club lounges.
Upgrades: can you move up?
Qantas runs Bid Now Upgrades on most international flights, sells cash upgrades at the airport, and Qantas Frequent Flyer members can request Classic Upgrade Rewards with points — though Business-to-First upgrades on the LAX–Sydney A380 are among the most requested and least available in the program. If First is the goal, we quote it at booking; it is the one transpacific First, and negotiated fares are the realistic way in.
Important to know before you book
- First flies only on the A380, from Los Angeles to Sydney. Every other US route, including San Francisco, Dallas and New York–Auckland, is a 787-9 with Business as the top cabin.
- Australia's summer (December–February) is the peak; Christmas–January fares are the highest of the year. Book by August.
- Westbound flights depart Los Angeles in the evening and land two calendar days later in the morning; the Business Suite's sleep-from-take-off service is designed for that.
- Qantas and American are joint-venture partners on the Pacific; American's Los Angeles–Sydney 787 and Dallas–Brisbane flights are the comparison.
Rankings and reviews
Qantas is regularly ranked the Best Airline in Australia/Pacific by Skytrax and among the world's safest carriers by AirlineRatings; its First Lounges in Sydney and Los Angeles are consistently named among the best in the world, and the airline is a fixture of the Skytrax top-25.
Why book Qantas with LuxeSkies
Transpacific premium fares are the highest on the map, and Qantas's public fares move sharply with the Australian calendar. We hold contract fares from $4,800 round trip, price Qantas against United, Delta, American and Air New Zealand on the same dates, quote A380 First from Los Angeles wherever it is within reach, and time December bookings so the seats still exist. One manager from quote to e-ticket.

“Steven was enthusiastic (to a fault). His first of three offers was about 10% above my budget but the flights really fit the schedule so well I had to say yes. The other two offers were cheaper but the timing was off for me.”
