Korean Air Business & First Class

from$3,200round trip · per person

Korean Air flies Seoul Incheon nonstop from more US cities than any other Asian carrier — a dozen, coast to coast — and Incheon is the best-connected hub in Northeast Asia for Japan, China, Southeast Asia and Vietnam. Prestige Suites are lie-flat 1-2-1 with high privacy partitions, First Class still flies on the 747-8 and 777, and the merger with Asiana has made it one of the largest airlines in Asia.

The seat

What makes Prestige Suites different

Prestige Suites are a lie-flat 1-2-1 with partitions high enough that you cannot see your neighbor once seated, direct aisle access and a 23-inch screen; the newest 787-10s and A350s add a sliding door. First on the 747-8 is a set of open suites with a wide seat and ottoman at the nose of the aircraft — old-fashioned in the best sense, with a small cabin and attentive service. The catering is the differentiator: bibimbap prepared at your seat is the most famous business-class dish in Asia, and the Korean menu runs alongside Western options. Incheon's Terminal 2 is Korean Air's own, with short connections to the whole of Asia.

Korean Air lounges

At Incheon Terminal 2, the KAL Prestige Class Lounges (east and west, with showers, a noodle bar and rest areas) serve Business passengers, and the First Class Lounge offers à la carte dining and a quieter space. In the US, Korean Air operates its own KAL Lounges at Los Angeles and New York JFK and uses Delta Sky Clubs or partner lounges elsewhere.

Upgrades: can you move up?

SKYPASS members can upgrade eligible Prestige fares to First with miles where First is flown, and Korean Air sells cash upgrades at check-in when seats are open; Delta SkyMiles cannot be used to upgrade on Korean Air. First is a small cabin on a shrinking number of aircraft, so if it matters, we quote it at booking.

Important to know before you book

Rankings and reviews

Korean Air holds an APEX Five Star Global Airline rating and Skytrax's 5-Star Airline rating, and its bibimbap service has been named the best airline meal in Asia by Business Traveller readers; it is consistently among the top-25 airlines in the Skytrax survey.

Why book Korean Air with LuxeSkies

Korean Air's one-stop fares through Incheon to Japan, Southeast Asia and China often undercut the nonstops in the same cabin, and its First Class is one of the least-known First products from the US. We hold contract fares from $3,200 round trip, confirm the aircraft and cabin, price the Seoul stopover against direct routings, and quote First wherever it flies.

Korean Air questions

How much is Korean Air business class from the US?

Our negotiated starting fares are $3,200 round trip from Los Angeles for lead-time bookings; Seattle and San Francisco are close, and the East Coast a few hundred dollars higher. Through-fares to Tokyo, Bangkok or Bali and First Class are quoted on request.

Does Korean Air have First Class to the US?

Yes, on the 747-8 and 777-300ER on selected routes. Other routes are Prestige-topped; we confirm which.

Is Korean Air a good way to get to Japan or Southeast Asia?

Yes. Incheon is two hours from Tokyo and Osaka, three from Shanghai and five to six from Bangkok, Singapore and Ho Chi Minh City, with short connections in Korean Air's own terminal. One-stop fares are often lower than the nonstops.

What is the bibimbap service?

Korean Air's signature business and first-class dish: rice, vegetables and beef served in a stone-style bowl with sesame oil and gochujang for you to mix. Order it — it is the reason many people fly Korean.

“Steven was enthusiastic (to a fault). His first of three offers was about 10% above my budget but the flights really fit the schedule so well I had to say yes. The other two offers were cheaper but the timing was off for me.”

“It was great! So helpful and patient the only negative thing I can say is it wasn’t communicated the price for assistance until I already paid and left a tip.”
