Business Class Flights to Tahiti
from$4,300round trip · per person
Tahiti is eight and a half hours from Los Angeles — shorter than a flight to Paris — and the door to Bora Bora, Moorea, Taha'a and the Tuamotus. Four airlines fly it in flat beds: Air Tahiti Nui and Air France from Los Angeles, Delta from Los Angeles, United from San Francisco, with Seattle added by Air Tahiti Nui. Most flights land in the evening, so the overwater bungalow is the next morning's fifty-minute hop.
Arrival airport
Faa'a International (PPT), 10 minutes from Papeete; Bora Bora is a 50-minute Air Tahiti flight, Moorea a 30-minute ferry or 15-minute flight
Flight time
~8.5h from Los Angeles · ~8.5h from San Francisco · ~9h from Seattle
Time difference
6 hours behind Eastern (5 in the US winter — Tahiti does not change clocks)
Best time to go
May–October (dry season); July–August and Christmas–New Year are the peaks, and Heiva, the Polynesian festival, fills Papeete in July; November–April is warmer, wetter and cheaper; humpback whales are August–October

Flying Business Class to Tahiti
Air Tahiti Nui, French Polynesia's carrier, flies Faa'a nonstop from Los Angeles daily and from Seattle several times a week on the 787-9, with its lie-flat Poerava Business cabin in a 2-2-2 layout; Air France flies Los Angeles–Papeete as the last leg of its Paris service, with its lie-flat business cabin; Delta flies Delta One from Los Angeles; and United flies Polaris from San Francisco. French bee flies from San Francisco with premium economy only. Every business cabin on the route is lie-flat; none is First Class. From the rest of the country, a same-day connection to Los Angeles or San Francisco — usually in a lie-flat transcontinental seat on the same ticket — is the routing.
Most flights leave the West Coast in the afternoon and land in Papeete in the evening, which shapes the itinerary: Air Tahiti's flights to Bora Bora (50 minutes), Taha'a and Raiatea (45), Rangiroa and Fakarava in the Tuamotus (an hour) run in daylight, so the first night is in Papeete or on Moorea — the resorts at Punaauia and Le Méridien are 15 minutes from the airport, or the Moorea ferry takes 30 minutes from the port — and the overwater bungalow is the next morning. A few flights arrive early enough for a same-evening connection; we check. Faa'a is small and 10 minutes from town; Air Tahiti Nui's lounge serves the return, which is an overnight flight landing in Los Angeles in the morning.
The dry season, May through October, is the reason to go — cooler, drier, with the trade winds and the best visibility for diving — and July and August are the peak, when Heiva fills Papeete with dance and the French summer holidays fill the resorts. Christmas–New Year is the second peak. Humpback whales are in the lagoons from August to October. November through April is the warm, wet season, with short heavy showers and the lowest fares of the year, below our $4,300 starting fare from Los Angeles; February and March are the wettest.

Tahiti flight questions
How much is business class to Tahiti from the US?
Our negotiated starting fares are $4,300 round trip from Los Angeles for lead-time bookings in the shoulder season; San Francisco and Seattle are close. July–August and Christmas–New Year price higher; the wet season is cheapest. The Bora Bora hop is quoted separately.
How long is the flight from Los Angeles to Tahiti?
About 8½ hours — shorter than Los Angeles to Paris. Most flights leave in the afternoon and land in Papeete in the evening; the return is overnight, landing in Los Angeles in the morning.
Can I fly directly to Bora Bora?
Not from the US. Fly to Papeete, then Air Tahiti's 50-minute flight to Bora Bora the next morning — most US arrivals land after the last connection. We book the hop and a night in Papeete or on Moorea if needed.
Which airline is best for business class to Tahiti?
All four are lie-flat. Air Tahiti Nui has the most frequencies and the Seattle option; Air France's cabin is the newest on the route; Delta and United suit SkyMiles and MileagePlus travelers connecting through their hubs. We quote all four on your dates.

“Steven was enthusiastic (to a fault). His first of three offers was about 10% above my budget but the flights really fit the schedule so well I had to say yes. The other two offers were cheaper but the timing was off for me.”
