Business & First Class Flights to Frankfurt

Frankfurt is Lufthansa's home and the busiest connecting hub in continental Europe — which makes it the city with the most US nonstops in Germany and one of the few in Europe where a true First Class ticket, with its own terminal, is on the table. Eight hours overnight from New York, and the whole of Germany, Switzerland and central Europe is one short flight or train away.

Flying Business & First Class to Frankfurt
Lufthansa flies Frankfurt nonstop from New York, Newark, Boston, Washington, Chicago, Detroit, Atlanta, Miami, Dallas, Houston, Denver, Seattle, Los Angeles and San Francisco, with its new Allegris business cabin — suites with doors and, in the front row, extra-wide beds — rolling out across the fleet, and Lufthansa First on the 747-8 from several of those cities. United, Lufthansa's Star Alliance partner, flies Polaris from Newark, Washington, Chicago, Denver, Houston and San Francisco; Delta serves Frankfurt from Atlanta and New York; American from Dallas, Charlotte and Chicago in season; and Condor flies A330neos with lie-flat seats from a handful of US cities.
The Lufthansa First Class experience is the reason the ticket is worth asking about: departing Frankfurt, First passengers use a separate First Class Terminal with private security, a restaurant, a cigar lounge and a chauffeured Porsche or Mercedes to the aircraft. Arriving, there is a First Class lounge with showers and a car to your connection. It is one of the two or three best ground products anywhere, and a negotiated First fare on the 747-8 from New York, Chicago or the West Coast is often within reach of what business costs on peak dates.
Frankfurt's value is its network. Lufthansa reaches every German city, Vienna, Zurich, Prague, Budapest and the Baltics in one to two hours, and the ICE rail station attached to Terminal 1 has direct high-speed trains to Cologne (an hour), Munich (three and a quarter), Berlin (four) and Basel. Heidelberg and the Rhine Valley are under an hour by car. Fares to Frankfurt are steady year-round: business demand keeps them from dipping as low as leisure cities in winter, but it also keeps summer peaks moderate, and our $2,300 New York starting fare holds across most of the calendar.

“Steven was enthusiastic (to a fault). His first of three offers was about 10% above my budget but the flights really fit the schedule so well I had to say yes. The other two offers were cheaper but the timing was off for me.”
