Flying Business & First Class to Grand Cayman
Cayman Airways, the national carrier, flies 737 MAX 8s with a recliner Business Class from Miami, Tampa, New York JFK, Los Angeles and Denver, and it is the schedule-setter on the route. American flies recliner First Class from Miami, Charlotte and Dallas; Delta from Atlanta and New York; United from Newark, Houston and Chicago; JetBlue from New York and Boston without Mint. No lie-flat seat operates from the US; British Airways flies lie-flat from London via Nassau. From Miami the flight is 80 minutes, so the front cabin is about the priority line, the lounge, bags and a manager who handles the booking — and on a full Saturday in February, the quiet cabin.
Owen Roberts is on the edge of George Town: Seven Mile Beach and its resorts are 10 minutes, the Ritz-Carlton and Kimpton Seafire on the beach itself, Camana Bay 10, and the East End and Rum Point 40 minutes. Resorts arrange transfers; a rental car is common. Grand Cayman is also the base for Little Cayman and Cayman Brac, 40 minutes on Cayman Airways, for diving at Bloody Bay Wall.
December through April is the dry season and the peak, with Christmas–New Year, Presidents' Day and spring break the most expensive weeks and the first to fill in the front cabin; Batabano (Cayman's carnival) is in May and Pirates Week in November. May and early June are warm and good value. Hurricane season runs June to November, with September and October the highest risk and the lowest fares, below our $1,100 starting fare from Miami.

“Steven was enthusiastic (to a fault). His first of three offers was about 10% above my budget but the flights really fit the schedule so well I had to say yes. The other two offers were cheaper but the timing was off for me.”
