American, LATAM, Delta, United and Azul all compete, which is why the starting fare is $2,100, and Guarulhos is the hub for Iguaçu, Bahia, the Amazon and the rest of Brazil.

Flying Business Class to São Paulo
American flies São Paulo nonstop from Miami, New York JFK and Dallas with Flagship Business on the 777 and 787; LATAM flies from Miami, New York JFK, Boston, Orlando and Los Angeles with lie-flat business on the 777 and 787 (its newest 787-9s carry a suite with a door); Delta, LATAM's joint-venture partner, flies from Atlanta and New York with Delta One; United flies Polaris from Newark and Houston; and Azul flies A330neos with a lie-flat business cabin from Fort Lauderdale and Orlando. Every nonstop is a widebody with a flat bed — this is a route where the business cabin is a real one on every airline. From Europe, Air France, Lufthansa, British Airways, Iberia, KLM and SWISS all fly São Paulo, which matters for clients combining the continents. No US–São Paulo flight has a First Class cabin.
The flights are overnight in both directions from the East Coast — depart 9 to 11pm, land 7 to 9am — with almost no time change, so the flat bed is the whole point: sleep six hours, land rested, and the first day is a full one. Guarulhos' Terminal 3 is the international terminal, with the LATAM, American Admirals Club and partner lounges airside; the drive to Jardins, Itaim Bibi and the Faria Lima business district takes 45 minutes to well over an hour depending on the hour. Congonhas, in the city, handles domestic flights and the half-hourly shuttle to Rio's Santos Dumont; Guarulhos also flies Iguaçu (two hours), Salvador (two and a half), Manaus (four) and Fernando de Noronha via Recife.
São Paulo's calendar is business-driven, so fares are steadier than Rio's: March–May and September–November are the pleasant months, with the F1 Grand Prix at Interlagos in November and Fashion Week filling premium cabins. Carnival, in February or early March, empties the city and fills flights to Rio and Salvador; Christmas–New Year sees Brazilian-American family travel both ways. December through February is hot and rainy and, outside the holidays, cheap. June and July are cool and dry. Our $2,100 starting fare from Miami applies to shoulder-season business.

São Paulo flight questions

Yes, on every US nonstop — American, LATAM, Delta, United and Azul all fly widebodies with flat beds. The flights are overnight, so the bed matters.

About 8 hours southbound overnight and 8½ hours on the return. New York is around 10 hours; Atlanta 9½; Los Angeles 12.

“Steven was enthusiastic (to a fault). His first of three offers was about 10% above my budget but the flights really fit the schedule so well I had to say yes. The other two offers were cheaper but the timing was off for me.”
