Flying Business Class to Tel Aviv
El Al, Israel's flag carrier, flies Tel Aviv nonstop from New York JFK, Newark, Boston, Miami, Los Angeles and Washington, with a lie-flat 1-2-1 business cabin on its 787-9s and 787-8s — the newest aircraft have a wider seat with more storage. United flies Polaris from Newark and, in season, Washington, Chicago and San Francisco; Delta flies Delta One from New York and Atlanta. Because schedules on this route have changed several times since late 2023, we confirm the live schedule before quoting rather than assume. One-stop routings are excellent and often cheaper: Turkish Airlines via Istanbul, Lufthansa via Frankfurt or Munich, SWISS via Zurich, Air France via Paris, KLM via Amsterdam and British Airways via London all reach Tel Aviv in four to five hours from their hubs. No US–Tel Aviv flight carries a First Class cabin.
Two practical points define this route. First, El Al's security process is the most thorough in the industry; allow three hours before departure at US airports, and expect an interview at check-in. Second, El Al does not fly on Shabbat or Jewish holidays — no departures from Friday afternoon until Saturday night — so a Friday-evening or Saturday-daytime schedule means United, Delta or a European carrier. Ben Gurion's Terminal 3 is modern and efficient; the King David Lounge serves El Al business passengers, and the train to Tel Aviv's HaShalom station takes about 20 minutes.
Spring (March–May) and autumn (September–November) are the sweet spot for weather; the Jewish holidays inside those windows — Passover in March or April, Rosh Hashanah through Sukkot in September or October — are the most expensive weeks of the year, with premium cabins selling out months ahead. July and August are hot and busy with family travel. December has Christmas-week demand for Jerusalem and Bethlehem. January and February are mild, quiet and the cheapest time to fly, with business fares from New York at or below our $2,900 starting price.

“Steven was enthusiastic (to a fault). His first of three offers was about 10% above my budget but the flights really fit the schedule so well I had to say yes. The other two offers were cheaper but the timing was off for me.”
